Flypa'11!

The International Paragliding Festival in Los Realejos starts in 2005 with the aim for the Town Council of Los Realejos at promoting its flight area and its tourist offer, spreading the knowledge of the region and the island of Tenerife as a singular destination about the practice of outdoors activities and sports in any time of the year. At the same time, it is attempted to improve the new figures of the local sport talents directing it towards the competitions and the national sport events.
That event, based on the link between different factors such as nature, tourism, mountain and beach, festivities and traditions, culture and sports, etc., was consolidated just upon one occasion and therefore, that made to undertake it every year.
In 2006 the new image of the event is presented and the brand of FLYPA starts to be known all over the world, thanks to the marketing a number of paragliding pilots make of it, like the world best acrobatics pilot, Raúl Rodríguez, the members of the SAT team, or like the paramotor world record man Ramón Morillas, who in April 2007 was able to achieve the greatest challenge on the paramotor history, joining the city of Jerez de la Frontera (Anadalucía) with the island of Lanzarote (the Canary Islands), by means of a number of human and professional resources which turned the Flypa Journey into a new world record.
The high media repercussion of the festival since its first occasion makes possible in a great extent to be acknowledged in a very short period of time. That matter influences directly on the fact that the number of registered people has remarkably increased year after year, beginning with 310 inscriptions in 2005 and getting over 450 participants in 2007, split in pilots, partners, journalists and fair exhibitors.
During those three events, the best world pilots regarding paragliding, paramotor, acrobatics, parachuting and base jump have been participating in Los Realejos, turning their exhibitions into big shows that got to meet thousands of people around El Socorro Beach. Its approach would not be understood without the presence of the top level pilots.
Another important collaboration is the one of the Aerial Army, which has taken part in these two last events contributing with the exhibitions of the F-18 planes and the T-19 planes to carry out the parachuting jumps. Besides that, they gave their useful aid to be in charge of the security measures and the press attentions that the Flypa Journey mentioned before required. We have also enjoyed the acrobatic jumps from the helicopters, the paramotors and the aircraft devices shows.
In 2007 was performed for the first time the “soundtrack” of the festival. It is about one version of a theme from the 70s which was working in all the dance floors of the most famous discos of that time and at present, it can be listened in each of the shows and the surprising activities which FLYPA prepares.
FLYPA takes part of the leisure offer of the Canary Islands, one of the most well known and important tourist areas in the world, which because of its climate, its natural spaces, its modern infrastructures, its leisure and spare time offer, as well as the charming behaviour of the local people has turned that destination into a unique place, where the nature and sports lovers meet the perfect setting to practice their sport hobbies, whatever they are.
FLYPA, apart from that, offers you large hotel installations, excellent outdoors means of communications, a diverse number of landscapes and natural protected places, as well the weather stability which allow the tourists to enjoy taking a bath in any of the seasons. We offer you the perfect setting to develop that event, which in less than three occasions has got to be placed among the best hang – gliding and paragliding events all over the world.
